Shabby house is done!

Heppy New Year everyone!! I hope you had great time with your families and friends :)
Christmas time consumed all the time I needed to spend on minis, but finally I have managed to finish the house! (which I actually planned to finish by the end of November, but life made its corrections)
So here is a little sommertime in the middle of winter :) Hope you'll enjoy watching it :)
I wanted so much to make a bench which would have metal, bent legs. I still think it can be done better, but this one looks light and gentle in this size as well.

you have already seen the inside in my previous post. The house has girlie bedroom and soft-blue living room. On the coffee table there are cake and a cup of cuppucino

I love wall-climbing flowers, I think they make walls look so cozy and alive.
 Glows in the dark

Hope you have received some warmth:)
Have a great and creative holidays!
Best wishes, Daria

Shabby house almost done!

We have sunny weather here today, so I used it to show you the inside of the house. I have almost finished it, I still need to make garden outside.
Here's how it looks like today. I made tiles one by one again, so that they would be uneven. Though it is not fully "shabby", I still like it :)

Shabby

Hi, and welcome to all my new followers!
I'm working on my shabby house that I have started in April (hope to finish it soon and get serious with the biggest project I have ever had. What's that? Can't tell you yet :) It is an order from my client and it's going to be a great project!)

But for now I still have shabby to finish: Here is a sofa, that caused me lots of trouble - too much details for such a tiny size - but it fits perfectly in a shabby room.
This room is almost done. Few details left. Soon you will see the whole interior. It will also have light in living room.

Replica of Peace Roombox

There was an order on the "peace" roombox that I mad month ago, so I made a replica. This one will go to France. It is so exciting, to know that my works travel to such different places! :) I already had orders from Russia, Greece, USA, and now France. Great experience :)

short post about fireplaces.

Hi!
If you ever wondered, how can you make realistic fireplace in microscale, here is food for thought:
cut basic shape from poly-clay (this is the clay to bake in the oven)
carve stones or bricks with the needle and bake it
paint the whole piece with black acrylic paint and gently whipe it off with wet tissue (this way paint will stay in cracks and the stones themselves would be greyish)
These are the two roomboxes that were ordered as a copy of 2013 Xmas roombox

The other way to make fireplace is to cut it from air-drying clay and paint after it dries. You can enclose it into a wall as well, like I did in previous roombox:

Hope it was helpful :)
Happy miniaturing!

Sofa tutorial

Hi!
As promised, I'm making my second post, with the sofa tutorial. This is basically how I do all my armchairs and sofas.
1. I'm making the model out of thick paper, cardboard or balsa.
 2. I cut a piece of paper napkin of desired color
 3. Glue and wrap the napkin around the sofa
 4. fold the bottom
 5. Make a few cuts and fold and glue the "face" of the sofa. Sometimes I add sitting cushions
 6. Cut and glue legs (sometimes I use wood and sometimes - micro-beads)
 7. Add pillows and an afgan. The sofa is done!
That same way I made armchairs for my last roombox. Here it is. You can find it on ebay

It's already freezing here. -10 in daytime :( This photo I took yesterday while picking my daughter from school.

Time to dring hot tea and make some minis! :)
